Mohammed Ishaq scored a fine hat-trick and then added a fourth goal in the tie-breaker as Pillai College (Panvel) stunned Thakur College (Kandivli) 8-7 to book a spot in the final of the Mumbai University inter-college football tournament at Cooperage yesterday.

Aditya Dalvi opened the scoring for Thakur College in the 13th minute before Ishaq equalised from close range in the 26th minute. Four minutes later, Thakur took the lead again, through Shanon Pereira, who chipped the ball over Pillai 'keeper Nitin Chowdhary. Ishaq again restored parity with a long range shot in (39th minute). After the break, Pillai took the lead through Ishaq (47th min), but it only lasted 10 minutes as the Panvel college conceded an own-goal. In the tie-breaker, Akshay Pashilkar, Vaibhav Karpe, Ishaq, Prathamesh Rokade and Nikhil Poojary were on target for the Panvel outfit, while only Prince Anand, Tausheen Shaikh, Digvijay Yadav and Shravan Shetty scored for Thakur.
In the other semi-final, Khalsa College beat Rizvi College 6-4 via tie-breaker. Pillai College will play Khalsa College in the final on Sunday at University Pavillion.
