Former Bengaluru FC coach Ashley Westwood left an indelible mark on the club since he took over in 2013. Having taken up the responsibility of developing Indian football, the Englishman raised the playing standard of and won I-League in the club's very first year in existence. He then secured the Federation Cup at the first attempt during the 2015-16 edition.

Eugeneson Lyngdoh BFC's lynchpin in midfield en route to that success. Under Westwood, the Shillong boy scripted many victories for BFC, so it came as no surprise that Lyngdoh was thrilled to reunite with his former boss, who is now the Technical Director at Atletico de Kolkata.

"I am very happy to be reunited with Ashley Westwood. I improved a lot under him and I look forward to improving more. This is a new chapter at ATK and I will prove myself here too," Lyngdoh told mid-day yesterday after he was picked by ATK at the ISL player draft for a whopping Rs 1.1 crore.

Lyngdoh's joy is two-fold, given ATK's new coach is Teddy Sherringham, a former Man United player. "Yes. I am a big Man Utd fan. I've always seen him on TV, but now I'm seeing him live, right in front of me. I'll learn a lot from his experience" he added.
