Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is all praise for Ralf Rangnick, who is poised to take over as interim manager of English Premier League giants Manchester United. Rangnick's lawyer told AFP subsidiary SID on Friday that the final points of the contract are being finalised.
Rangnick, 63, is currently head of sports and development at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow. The German is poised to take over at Old Trafford until the end of the season (May 2022) after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following a dreadful start to Manchester United's Premier League campaign.
United could make a permanent appointment at the end of the campaign, with Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino strongly linked with the job.
Having helped oversee RB Leipzig's rise from the fifth tier of German football to the Bundesliga and Champions League, Rangnick comes with huge experience. And Klopp, 54, who has previously coached in the Bundesliga, knows this well. The two former Bundesliga coaches have met 13 times in Germany, first with Mainz and then with Dortmund and Klopp has come away with just two victories.

"Usually, we don't talk about things that aren't confirmed yet. But In the football world in Germany he is very, very well regarded, and rightly so," Klopp told reporters on Friday.
"Unfortunately, a good coach is coming to England, to Manchester United. A really experienced manager, built most famously two clubs from nowhere to proper threats and forces in Germany with Hoffenheim and Leipzig. He did a lot of different jobs but his first concern was always being a coach, being a manager, and that's what his best skill is, obviously.
United will be organised on the pitch, I think we should realise that and that's obviously not good news for other teams," added Klopp, who has helped Liverpool become a dominant force in European football, having helped them win, both the UEFA Champions League and the English Premier League.
Klopp however, warned that Rangnick may need some time before settling in at Old Trafford. "Like all coaches in the world, we need time to train with our teams and Ralf will pretty quick realise he has no time to train because they play all the time. That makes it a bit trickier for him but apart from that a really good man and an outstanding coach, if it happens, will come to England," he concluded.
