Wayne Rooney started dating Coleen when they were just 16 years of age. They met when they were 12 years.

A former British prostitute named Helen Wood had also alleged that Wayne Rooney slept with her in 2009 when his wife Coleen was pregnant with the couple's first son. She later on went on to apologise to Coleen Rooney.
In January 2019, Coleen Rooney escaped without a scrape after she was involved in a car crash just near her home.
In February 2019, an exclusive report by the Sun claimed that Wayne Rooney would be 'devastated' but also 'relieved' if Coleen left him as the couple were facing difficult times.
In August 2019, Wayne Rooney was pictured with a mystery woman in Canada. Furious, Coleen told Wayne to return back to the United Kingdom with her. This is also so he can be there for their children most of the time.

On their 12th wedding anniversary in June 2020, Coleen Rooney took to Instagram to share a candid moment with Wayne Rooney from their wedding day and wrote, "Happy anniversary @waynerooney.... 12 years since that unbelievable celebration. I love you."
