Viraju00a0Shetty had no qualms in calling himself greedy for "goals". That's precisely why he became a striker after starting out as a defender.

Viraj scored a brace in Arya Vidya Mandir, Juhu's 4-0 thumping win over St Xavier's, Borivli to win the Mumbai Schools Sports Association under-14 Division IV title at Azad Maidan yesterday. Skipper Shubhankar Gandhi and Dev Rohra contributed with a goal each.

Thirteen-year-old Viraj said he was eagerly eyeing the striker's spot to get vacant for over a year. "Rishabh Tembulkar was our main striker and when he left, there was a vacancy for a striker.

I was more than happy to fill his shoes," said Viraj, who finished with seven goals in as many games. He conceded that the spotlight was one of the reasons for his switch from defence. "Only strikers are showered with attention. The defenders never get any credit," he said.
