For St Theresa's (Bandra), the Nike-MSSA U-14, DIV III semi-final was not just a chance to make the final but also an opportunity to finally beat one of the powerhouses of inter-school football.
At the final whistle, Theresa's had both their goals achieved with a 2-1 win over St Stanislaus 'B' (Bandra) thanks to goals from Aditya Jambhale and Kenyon Affonso, whose effort was particularly impressive, as he had just recovered from a hairline fracture that forced him to miss the quarterfinal.
"I was very disappointed when I couldn't play the quarter final. My mother objected to me playing today as well but she agreed after a lot of persuasion," Kenyon said.
Coach Rosario Fernandes was happy to see his key player back too. "He is our main striker and I never had a replacement. I was very happy when his mother called 15 minutes before the game to inform that he could play."
Rosario added: "Stanislaus are a big team. They have good players.u00a0 We are very happy defeating them especially in the semi final. Also, getting promoted to the second division is a big achievement."
