Holy Name (Colaba) striker Akash Mohit would never have taken to football had it not been for his uncle, Vijay, who forced him into the game.
Thereafter, his parents' financial instability posed a hindrance too, but this time the school stepped in and supported him. Yesterday, he proved his worth on the football field as he scored twice in the school's 5-0 win over Smt VD Gardi, Mulund in an MSSA U-16 Div II inter-school tie at Azad Maidan. Pritam Jadhav, Yash Tambe and Sharad Kanojia were the other goal scorers.

u00a0Akash recalled how his uncle Vijay forced him into the game. "I was quite a lazy kid and spent a lot of time at home. He (Vijay) wanted me to play so that it would help me get physically fit and active. I thank him for his encouragement," Akash told MiD DAY.
Coach Diago D'Souza revealed how Akash is also helped by the school, given his financial constraints. "Akash comes from a very humble background. But seeing his footballing talent the school decided to support him by paying for his books and taking care of his fees." said D'Souza.
Akash, who hopes to make a career in football said: "I'm very passionate about football. I want to pursue it as a career."
