K Ravi Kumar failed to find a place in Group A of Men's 77kg category and ended up competing in Group B. Although he finished second in Group B, it was not enough
to book him a berth in the medal round (Group A).

After the medal round, Silver medallist at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Ravi Kumar stood at 10th position with a total of 13 weightlifters competing in the event.

Ravi Kumar lifted a total of 313kg after an effort of 141kg in snatch and 172kg in clean and jerk. China's Xiaojun Lyu topped the category, lifting 375kg.

He set a new Games record of 175kg in snatch and 200kg in clean and jerk. Silver medal went to Kim Kwang-song of North Korea and Thailand's Chatuphum Chinnawong bagged the bronze.
