The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to ban suspended Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi for life in the Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for July 3, ESPNSTAR's website reported yesterday.


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to ban suspended Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi for life in the Special General Meeting (SGM) scheduled for July 3, ESPNSTAR's website reported yesterday.

The report quoted sources as saying that the decision of a life ban for Modi ufffd accused of several financial irregularities ufffd was proposed in the IPL Governing Council (GC) meeting on June 25.

"There (scheduled SGM on July 3) the Board will take the decision to ban Modi for life," a BCCI source said. Should a vote be required in the SGM, the BCCI has proposed an open voting procedure where members will vote by raising their hands in favour of the call.

However, in an interview with NDTV Profit, Board secretary N Srinivasan denied talk of Modi's tenure as an administrator ending on July 3. Srinivasan stressed that the suspended commissioner will get a fair trial. He also rubbished claims of personal grudge between him and Modi.
