"Very few cricketers have played more than 100 Tests, but nobody has given back so much to the game than Dilip Vengsarkar after his retirement."
Former India fast bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu put Vengsarkar's contribution in true perspective recently.
Sandhu, who was Vengsarkar's teammate in India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, was at Vengsarkar's cricket academy at Mahul, Chembur where it was announced that Ultratech Cement would sponsor the training facility.
Sandhu along with Vengsarkar distributed uniforms to trainees of the academy.
"Thanks to Dilip, thousands of underprivileged talented cricketers have got a platform to showcase their talent," added Sandhu.u00a0
"Wear your uniform with lot of pride and honour," Vengsarkar told his wards.
