Houston Astros star Carlos Correa celebrated his team's World Series championship triumph with a ring of a different kind on Wednesday after proposing to his girlfriend just moments after clinching victory. The Puerto Rico resident, 23, wasted no time in popping the question as his teammates celebrated on the pitch at Dodger Stadium following the Astros' 5-1 victory. Correa embraced girlfriend Daniella Rodriguez and then dropped to one knee before a scrum of fans and media.

"Daniella Rodriguez, will you make me the happiest man in the world? Will you marry me?" Correa asked. Rodriguez put her hands to her mouth and replied "Oh my god" before saying yes. Correa later revealed that the thought of proposing had added to the stress of the occasion. "It was double pressure. I was just waiting it out and we did it," he said. "I didn't have a Plan B so I'm glad we won. We were able to accomplish the dream. To be able to bring joy and happiness to their lives is special in this moment."
Correa, like several of his teammates, dedicated the win to storm-ravaged Houston and his native Puerto Rico.
