Wellington: Australian controversial tennis player Bernard Tomic secured his third ATP title by retaining the Clara Open title after defeating his French opponent Adrian Mannarino in a three-set thriller in Bogota.

The 22-year-old also extended his unbeaten run in the Colombian capital to nine matches after trouncing Mannarino 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, in a match that lasted one hour and 32 minutes, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The win comes after Tomic was axed from the Davis Cup quarter-final against Kazakhstan after unleashing a blistering tirade against Tennis Australia for a lack of support following his Wimbledon exit. He was also arrested 10 days ago in Miami following a hotel party.

The simmering rift between Tomic and Tennis Australia doesn't appear to be relenting after the player firmly stated that he had no interest in 'clear-the-air' talks until his demands over the funding issues are met by the governing body.

TA withdrew funding from Tomic and his 17-year-old sister in June because of dispute with their father John.

Tomic had said that he didn't believe there was any point in a meeting until he was satisfied TA was committed to funding the development of junior Australian talent, including his sister Sara, on a non-discriminatory basis.
