After Leander Paes and partner Lukas Dlouhy pulled the rabbit out of the bag beating the top-seeded pair of Mike and Bob Bryan in the US Open doubles semi-final yesterday Paes' former partner Mahesh Bhupathi followed suit.

Bhupathi and Mark Knowles beat Andy Ram of Israel and Max Mirnyi of Belarus 6-4, 6-2 in the second semi-final late in the night at the Flushing Meadows to ensure that one Indian will walk away with another Grand Slam title in his pocket.

In a lop-sided semi-final, the Indian and his partner from Bahamas were always in control and never allowed the opponents to dictate terms. The case was not the same for Paes and Dlouhy, however. Up against the formidable Bryan brothers, they won 6-4, 3-6, 7-6.

The match had a sensational climax as Paes and Dlouhy had numerous match points in the tie-breaker but Bryan brothers made a spirited comeback and saved five match points.
