MORE than half of Bombay Scottish 'A' team players were not available for their Ahmed Sailor knock-out match against St Joseph (Wadala) yesterday as they had already enrolled themselves for an Anglo-Indian tournament at Nasik. But it got postponed due to the swine flu threat.

The postponement has resulted in players not being eligible to play in the Ahmed Sailor, though they are available to do so, leaving the Mahim school to field a second-string side. As expected, they struggled in their Round One match at Azad Maidan.

Scottish were kept on their toesu00a0 throughout and though they managed to score first through Nipun Chauhan just before the first half, that was their only period of domination early on. St Joseph's came back strongly in the second half, by first restoring parity through Joel Lobo in the 37th minute and then taking the lead through skipper Stallon Sebastian in the 46th.

Scottish somehow levelled in the nick of time through Arjun Meghe and in the subsequent tie-breaker Chauhan donned the goalkeeper's gloves to see them scrape through 5-4 on penalties. Meghe however admitted it was not easy. "With most of the boys coming from the 'B' team, we struggled. Anyway we are happy to win an move on for now," he said.
