The first to emerge victorious from court no 12 yesterday afternoon was the pair of Bopanna and Jie Zheng of China, who defeated Johan Brunstrom of Sweden and Katalin Marosi of Hungary 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1.
Bopanna and his partner played a composed match with better understanding. The first set tiebreak was a key factor in the match as it gave them a crucial advantage for winning the set. However, in the second set, their opponents found their form to beat Bopanna and Zheng.
But in the third set Bopanna and partner came back chasing with aggression, breaking their opponents' serve to take victory in one hour and 29 minutes.
