New Delhi: India's Saweety Boora settled for a silver medal as she lost her light heavyweight (81 kg) category final bout against home China's Yang Xiaoli in the Asian Women's Boxing Championships in Wulanchabu, China on Thursday.

World Championships silver-medallist Saweety fought with tremendous heart and motivation throughout the contest, but Xiaoli's clever use of range allowed her to dictate the pace of the bout.

Xiaoli also used her height advantage to perfection as she slipped the dangerous attacks from the Indian, while she frequently dazzled her home spectators with confident and effective shots.

After four rounds of entertaining boxing, Xiaoli claimed the gold. Xiaoli had also beaten Saweety for the gold medal in the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships last November.

Meanwhile, five other Indians settled for bronze medals after losing in the semifinals. In the 54kg division, Meena Kumari was outpunched 0-3 by Filipino Nesty Petecio. World Championships silver-medallist Sarjubala Shamjetsabam (48kg) also went down by a similar margin to China's E Naiyan.

Pwilao Basumatary (57kg) and Seema Punia, too, met a similar fate. While Basumatary lost 0-3 to Thailand's Tassamelee Thongjan, Punia bowed out after being beaten 0-3 by China's Wang Shijin.
