Chandigarh Academy has entered into the semi-finals of the All-India Women's Hockey tournament here, defeating SAI 2-1 in a tight match last night.


Chandigarh Academy has entered into the semi-finals of the All-India Women's Hockey tournament here, defeating SAI 2-1 in a tight match last night.

Central Railway played a 2-2 draw with Haryana XI in an other match. Chandigarh Academy got its first goal in the 15th minute through Lily Chanu who scored off a reverse shot.

SAI XI captain got the equaliser for her side in the 24th minute when she converted a penalty corner. Three minutes before the final whistle, Chandigarh Academy took its lead to 2-1 when Avantika Yadav scored a brilliant field goal. In the second match, Harmanjeet Kaur scored the first goal for Haryana XI in the eighth minute through a penalty corner.

Four minutes later, Kanti Lakra got the equaliser for Central Railway through a field goal.

In the second half, Pratibha Sawant of Central Railway scored in the 48th minute through a penalty corner but five minutes later, Preetam Siwach converted a penalty corner for Haryana XI to make the score two all
