Striker Chhetri confident of a good show against UAE in WC qualifiers
Striker Chhetri confident of a good show against UAE in WC qualifiersWhile Baichung Bhutia is not a part of the Indian team his presence is missed by star striker Sunil Chhetri and he said that he hasn't had any camp without Bhutia for the past seven years.
Chettri remains a key player in the team for his performance and experience. "We have a good set of players. All we need is to gel well together and work hard ahead of the UAE match," said the former Sporting Kansas striker. "All the players are very good and everyone has to put their best foot forward in the camp. We played very well in the AFC Challenge Cup in Malaysia and it's good that the coach has decided to have the same set of players," he added.
Chhetri also praised Bhutia for his contribution to Indian football. "I am missing Bhai (Baichung). It's difficult as I have never been in a national camp without bhai for the past seven years," Chhetri said on the third day of the camp in preparation for India's 2014 World Cup qualifiers against UAE next month.
"We have a mix of experienced and young players. Many of us have done well in the I-league and I am hoping that we will do well against UAE in the World Cup qualifiers. We had lost 0-5 to UAE last year before the Asian Cup but this time we are hoping to do better,"said Chhetri.
India play their World Cup qualifiers second round away match against UAE on July 23 in Dubai while the return-leg match will be played here on July 28.
