Christ Church (Byculla) entered the quarter-final of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Ahmed Sailor knockout boys U-16 inter-school football tournament in style on Saturday with a 7-0 win over Activity High School (Kemps Corner) at Azad Maidan.

The victors were without four key players - Rayyan Shaikh, Ancel Andrews, Daniel Haider and Ahmed Gani - who are part of the state team in Ranchi for the Jr National Championships.

Skipper Hatim Kapase, Obedth Misal and Juzer Dhinojwala scored a brace each while Adil Khan netted a goal in the 39th minute as Christ Church dominated throughout. The Byculla outfit will take on Don Bosco (Matunga) in the quarter-final.

"We were under pressure as Activity had won their last match against Saifee 5-0. I told the kids to be ready for a tough match as we did not have four of our main players. u00a0

"The team had promised me that they will play their best and win. I am glad they kept their promise," said Christ Church coach Nilesh Rao. Meanwhile, Christ Church skipper Hatim said: "Playing Bosco's isn't going to be easy. We are ready for the challenge as we have nothing to lose." u00a0
