Over 600 police personnel posted at the Kadarpur shooting range in Gurgaon had been vigorously pursuing a food contractor for the last few days.

Bird's eye view: The Kadarpur shooting range will be hosting the full
bore shooting event of the Commonwealth Games.

It wasn't that the contractor had been involved in a criminal case but they needed somebody to replace their canteen supplier who had disappeared without a trace, leaving them high and dry.

The Kadarpur shooting range would host the full bore shooting event during the Commonwealth Games and the Gurgaon police have put in place a comprehensive security contingent in and around the range.

However, for the last few days the cops stationed at the venue had been facing trouble in arranging food as the supplier had disappeared without any prior information.

Though an alternative arrangement has been put in place now but the cops are still not amused.

"It's not just food even transportation is a big issue here. To reach Kadarpur shooting range is a tough task and we need to leave our house at 4 am to report at 7am. We rarely get any transport," said a policeman posted outside the village post.

"We landed here on September 20. Since then we are facing various problems. No arrangements are there for staying overnight. The food packets that we get are not fresh. There is no arrangement for drinking water," said a constable, requesting anonymity.

Fool-Proof

The Gurgaon police had roped in the best of their men and machines to ensure an incident-free full bore shooting competition at the Kadarpur shooting range. Gurgaon police commissioner Surjeet Singh Deswal said that they have asked the Centre to provide air surveillance for the event.
The officers of telecom wing have been directed to install a secured line for the CRPF Kadarpur range premises which will be linked with the Commonwealth Games Village in Delhi, Gurgaon Police control room and the Deputy Commissioners' office. As many as 74 CCTV cameras have been installed at the range for security.
Apart from the Gurgaon police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) would also be manning the venue. Apart from the regular officers, commandos would be deployed at the shooting range who would be provided with special binoculars and walky talky sets.
