Duruelo Convent, Bandra have taken their love for football a notch higher


Duruelo Convent, Bandra have taken their love for football a notch higher. In order to endorse the game among the kids, the school participated in the Mumbai Schools Sports Association's inter-school football tournament. Though the side failed to make any headlines, they have certainly initiated something interesting for the kids to follow.



Interestingly, the squad representing Duruelo Convent are the under-14 state hockey champions. "We wanted to promote other sports besides hockey and participating in the football tournament was one of the best ways to get everyone involved," said Ruqqaiya Shaikh whose brace helped Duruelo Convent beat Hiranandani, Powai
Shaikh added that they participated in the competition for fun.

"We are regular hockey players, but playing football is fun too," she said. Fourteen-year-old Shaikh had an outstanding under-14 season last year in hockey. The centre forward finished with 16 goals that helped Duruelo win the MSSA hockey title.
