Canadian tennis beauty Eugenie Bouchard says that being beautiful has disadvantages too. The 22-year-old has received death threats from obsessed fans and felt the jealousy from within the tour from those who envy the image she has worked to build has caused the current scenario.
Eugenie Bouchard posted this picture with a lifeguard at Bondi beach on Instagram recently
"I've received death threats and things like that and have had some aggressive fans as well. Unfortunately, that's part of it, but most of them are really nice and support me no matter what. Some cross the line a little bit, but I have people around me to look out for me. Unjustified hate and unintelligent hate, that disappoints me," she was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.
"It's lonely to become a champion. It's lonely to be successful," added Bouchard, who visited the famous Bondi beach in Sydney and posted a picture with a lifeguard ahead of the Apia International in Sydney.
Despite her slump in form and having dropped from being World No. 5 in 2014 to her current No. 46, she remains focussed on the sport.
"For me, tennis is my No. 1 priority. People say, 'you do more photo shoots than practise'. I probably do less photo shoots than other players on tour. People are going to hate no matter what. I'm going to do me, do my life and that's it," she said.
