Inspired by the entertainment and glamour factor in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian Boxing Federation along with Percept Limited and Monnet Ispat is all set to give a similar look to boxing. The first Fight Night, titled the 'Lagaan Cup' featuring teams from India and England will kick-off on September 12 in Hyderabad followed by Pune on September 14.
Beijing Olympics medallist Vijender Singh (75kg) and Commonwealth boxing champion Dinesh Kumar (81kg) will lead the Indian challenge in a bilateral boxing tournament against England, along with other two, Dilbagh Singh and Diwakar Prasad.
Vijender said: "This will be a good learning experience for us before next month's Commonwealth Games. It's great preparation for the CWG too. We are all ready to show the world that Indians are not behind in any sporting events. I have a good record against England and this will surely help me win the Lagaan Cup."
