Moscow: Reigning US Open Flavia Pennetta of Italy secured her place in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals in Singapore after beating Russia's Daria Gavrilova 6-2, 6-4, in the second round of the Kremlin Cup here.

Pennetta, seeded third in the tournament, on Wednesday advanced to the quarter-finals, and gathered 3,252 points to ensure her presence in the 2015 WTA Finals,
scheduled to be held from October 25 to November 1.
