K Udayakumar, who represented India in national and international volleyball tournaments during the 1980s, died here today, family sources said.
Thiruvananthapuram: K Udayakumar, who represented India in national and international volleyball tournaments during the 1980s, died here today, family sources said.
He was rushed to a hospital after suffering a heart attack. Udayakumar was 54 and is survived by wife and two daughters.
A Deputy Commandant in Kerala police, Udayakumar was serving as ADC to the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here for the last several years. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award.
Udayakumar, who excelled both in defence and attack, led India in the SAF games in 1989 and played in most championships including Asiad during the 1980s.
