Gayatri Pawaskar of Bombay Scottish (Mahim) didn't let a problem in her equipment come in her way as she won silver in the Air Rifle Peep Sight Girl's U-19 event of the District Sports Office (DSO) Mumbai District shooting competition at the Swatantryaveer Savarkar shooting range, Shivaji Park yesterday.

The 16-year-old, with a score of 391, finished behind Gargi Sirsat of Ramnarain Ruia College (393). Yashika Talawadeka of Ramnarain Ruia College won bronze with a score of 390.
Gayatri panicked after misfiring a few shots due to a change in her trigger settings. She eventually had to beckoned coach Vishwajeet Shinde to sort her equipment issue.
Gayatri felt the trigger settings would have changed while travelling from New Delhi where she won bronze in the Air Rifle youth women team (with Aashi Rastogi and Prachi Gadkari ) event of the Asian Air Gun Shooting championship.
"The settings may have changed during luggage transfers at the airport. I slept for four to five hours and came directly here for this tournament. I didn't get time to check my equipment after reaching Mumbai. I could have won a gold medal if the equipment was proper," said Gayatri.
