Khizar Dafedar is a boy on a mission. After being in the Under-14 Mumbai probables for the last couple of years, Anjuman-I-Islam's (English)u00a0skipper aims to break into the squad and backed his words with delightful performances with both bat and ball in the first round of Giles Shield Under-14 Elite Division inter-school cricket tournament.
After scoring a breath-taking 205 off just 173 balls, Khizar single-handedly demolished Cardinal Gracious School's (Bandra) batting line-up with his ripping leg breaks as their first innings folded up for 49. He ended up taking eight wickets for 12 runs with Anjuman English needing only one wicket to seal a comprehensive victory.
Fourteen-year-old Khizar has pinned his hopes of making the cut with his performances in the recently concluded Harris Shield and the ongoing Giles Shield. With scores like 80, 48, 11 and 30 in the Under-16 tournament's Plate Division, Khizar feels that the Under-14 tournament couldn't have come at a better time than this for him. "I want to get as many runs as I can and that is how I want to prove myself," he said.

Meanwhile, their opponents' misery continued in second innings. Following on, none of the batsmen from the Bandra side got into double figures as they stare down the barrel at 38 for 9 at the end of day two.
It was Khizar once again as he got another fifer in just eight overs.
Resuming the day on 396 for two, Anjuman English added another 222 runs before declaring their innings on 618/4.
Unlike his elder brother Khizar, Hashir failed to get a double century after he was out leg before for 191. He shared a 217-run stand with Mehboob Shaikh (145) for the third wicket.
