HIL: Mumbai take the 'beaten' path again

Mumbai Magicians lost their third match to Punjab Warriors ufffd and their eighth match overall in the Hockey India League ufffd at the MHA Mahindra Stadium here yesterday


The Warrior's - who had beaten the Magicians 4-2 the first time around at the same venue and then 4-3 in the second meeting at home - overcame the Mumbai franchise 3-1 courtesy goals from Dharamvir Singh (7th minute), Robert Hammond (22nd) and Malak Singh (52nd).

Jonny Jasrotia scored one for the hosts in the 47th minute but it proved to be insufficient.

The win took Punjab to 25 points, still third in the table behind leaders Delhi Waveriders (34 points from 8 games) and Ranchi Rhinos (29 from 8) while their eighth defeat from nine encounters left the Magicians tottering on 13 points. Mumbai's only victory was a 4-0 rout of Uttar Pradesh Wizards on Wednesday.
