Rizvi Springfield, Bandra opted for a more watchful approach on Day One of their inter-school Harris Shield semi-final against IES VN Sule Guruji, Dadar at Cross Maidan yesterday.

Batting first, the defending champions reached a competitive total of 276 for three with Armaan Jaffer smashing yet another ton. He remained unbeaten on 175 at stumps.

On the other hand, opener Satya Laksh Jain started the innings in a rather watchful manner. The opener was adamantly blocking everything that came his way, letting even loose balls go by unpunished. He scored just 19 runs after facing 121 balls in his 178-minute stay. "We were advised by the coach to play watchfully. The pitch was a bit wet and we had to be careful early on. But after Prithvi Shaw got out, I was careful with my shots," said Jain.

Jain eventually perished after left-arm spinner Dhruva Vedak induced an inside edge, that went on to hit the stumps.
