India defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in a warm up match of the hockey World Cup at the floodlit Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Thursday.


India defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in a warm up match of the hockey World Cup at the floodlit Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Thursday.

India had earlier defeated Argentina in their first warm up match by the same margin.

Prabhjot Singh (3rd minute) and Deepak Thakur (20 min) scored for India while penalty corner specialist Taeke Taekema (15th minute) pulled one back for the Netherlands.

In another warm up match, Pakistan drew Cannada 1-1.

India will play Pakistan in their opening pool B match Sunday. Australia, Spain, England and South Africa are the other teams in India's pool.
