"It's a dream come true that India will host a Tier I World Karate meet. I am confident that India can improve their performance from the fifth position they held during the fifth World Championship held in South Africa (SA) in 2009. We won five gold medals, eight silver and 15 bronze medals at the SA meet.
That was a big jump, as we were ranked 28 then. Currently we are fifth in the ranking and a top-three finish is very much possible," said Kapadia, during the logo unveiling ceremony at the CK Nayudu Hall at Cricket Club of India
on Friday.
The 55-year-old karateka felt that India need to come good against higher ranked countries like Japan, Iran, South Africa and Australia for a podium finish.
