After being stranded at the airport for hours, there was more misery in store for the Indian shooters Monday as they found the quality of pellets supplied to them by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CGOC) not up to the mark.

A top rifle shooter told IANS they wanted Eley Tenex pellets but the organisers had supplied them some low quality ones.

"In Pune (where the shooters were training ahead of the Games) we never had a shortage of quality ammunition, but now we are facing a dearth of Eley Tenex pellets. We have trained with Eley Tenex and now shortage of these pellets is hampering our preparation. It is a big problem for us, because we cannot miss a day's shooting. We have to fire at least 300 shots everyday, but we can shoot only 100 with these good quality pellets," the shooter said on condition of anonymity.

National coach Sunny Thomas admitted the shooters have a problem.

"It is a big problem for us. But the organising committee is trying its best to arrange for the pellets. We expect things to be fine by Tuesday," Thomas told IANS.

The Indian shooters had to delay their practice Sunday as their guns and ammunition could not reach the Karni Singh Shooting Range due to lack of co-ordination among the Organising Committee officials.

There was utter chaos at the airport Saturday night when 18 Indian shooters arrived and officials from the Organising Committee were in a fix on how to transport the guns and the ammunition.u00a0
