Apurva Sharma and Kimaya Kajrolkar emerged champions in their respective categories and stole the limelight on the second and concluding day of the 33rd Bombay YMCA inter school and junior college swimming championship at the YMCA swimming pool inu00a0 Mumbai Central.
On a record-breaking day, Apurva Sharma of KETVG Vale College bagged five gold breaking three new meet records to as he emerged the boys' under-17 individual champion.
Records brokenSharma was the toast of the competition when he set new marks in the 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley. In the process he erased a 23-year-old record in the 100m freestyle and a 24-year-old mark in the 100m butterfly.
Balmohan Vidyamandir's Kimaya Kajrolkar, who bagged three gold medals on the opening day, announced her arrival on the circuit as the girls' under-7 individual champion with a tally of 18 points.
Rayna bags U-9 titleRayna Saldanha, who bagged four gold on the first day including a new meet record, was named the girls under-9 individual champion with 20 points. Girls' under-13 individual champion Aakansha Vora of Cathedral & John Connon won four gold setting new meet records in the 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke. The 100m breaststroke was a 13-year-old mark set by Tejaswi Shetty.
