Mumbai: A scintillating knock of 147 not out by opening batsman Bhupen Lalwani guided Karnataka Sporting to an easy victory over Sainath SC and carried them into the final of the Santosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy (U-16) cricket tournament on Saturday.

Batting first, Sainath SC scored 243 to which Karnataka replied with 256 for the loss of two wickets before play was called off due to bad light. Lalwani's knock came at a blistering strike rate of 97.35 which included 22 fours. He put on 147 in the company of Aditya Nayar at the top of the order.
Lalwani and Durvesh Mahadik (45 not out) put together 96 runs for the third wicket. In the final they face Dilip Vengsarkar Foundation who edged past New Era CC with a 34-run lead in the first innings.
Vengsarkar Foundation was helped by Satyak Patel's all-round show. The youngster scored 82 and then returned with figures of 5-34 to dismantle New Era CC for 184 in the first innings. This gave his team a 34-run lead which they consolidated with further 91 runs for the loss of four wickets. The final will be played between February 4-5 in Dadar.
