Lin Dan amply demonstrated yesterday why he is called Super Dan around the world. The Chinese badminton ace was in super form as he easily overcame compatriot Wang Zhengming in the final of the Asian Badminton Championship yesterday.
Though the score suggests the first game was a tight one, it definitely wasn't the case with Dan maintaining the four-point advantage he had from the early stages. The World, Olympic and Thomas Cup champion was in electric form and the 2000 odd fans who had braved the heat were treated to superb net play from the magician. And Dan was just as appreciative of the Indian fans as they were of his game.
"I like this hall and people here. They gave me good support. I think I have started loving India. My two championship victories have come here. The world championships in Hyderabad and the title today. India is my lucky charm now," he said with a smile. When asked if he followed a particular strategy to outplay Wang, Dan shrugged his shoulders.
"No tactics really. I knew where to catch him. I guess that was enough. But it helps when you move well on court and I did that throughout the week."
