Even as she plans a comeback from a devastating knee injury that kept her away from the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi (Russia), Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn has taken up a role as an ambassador for the second Winter Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Lillehammer, (Norway) in February 2016.

The Alpine skier, who has been dating star golfer Tiger Woods for quite some time now, was also an ambassador for the inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games held in Innsbruck in 2012.
"It is amazing to be back for more Youth Olympic action! Innsbruck 2012 was such an inspirational event, not just to the young athletes there, but also for the kids watching. It showcases, in a totally unique way, how much fun and excitement there is in winter sports.
Lillehammer with its Olympic history and famous venues will provide the best experience for the athletes on and off the field of play - I am very excited to be a part of it," Vonn said.
Vonn joins a plethora of superstar athletes like Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, Yao Ming etc, that have played the role of ambassadors for the Youth Olympic Games in the past.
30-year-old Vonn is slated to make a competitive comeback to the slopes in December at a three-race competition held at Canada's Lake Louise where she has won a whopping 14 times.
Quiet time with Woods
In fact, the American has resumed practice very recently in Austria after a injury-enforced hiatus of 10 months.
Vonn has spent the last few months enjoying the company of her superstar boyfriend, Woods, who is also nursing an injury.
"We've gotten to do a lot of things we normally wouldn't be able to do. It's been nice and calm," she told New York Times.
