Andy Murray beat Marcos Baghdatis to reach the round of 16 late on Saturday night and set up a clash with No 16 seed Croat Marin Cilic. The Briton won 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 in three hours and 13 minutes just in time for the 11 pm deadline.

Murray was patchy in his approach and far from his best, but gathering the oxygen generated under the roof, got the crowd on their feet as he defeated his opponent from Cyprus.

"The conditions were tough. I was really struggling. In the last couple of sets, I was creating a lot of chances but I wasn't feeling comfortable. I struck the ball a bit better under the roof," said Murray.

The match which ran for three hours and 13 minutes was gripping with flashes of brilliance from both players. Murray fell thrice and hurting himself. Thrice, his reserve service ball spilled from his pocket, costing him a replay of the point, and on the third occasion, the point itself made the match more dramatic.
