Lewis Hamilton believes McLaren have simply not done a good enough job this season for him to have won the Formula One world title

Hamilton has endured a myriad of issues over the course of the year, notably with unreliability, which is so unlike McLaren as their cars in the past have been renowned for being bulletproof.

The 27-year-old was plagued by gearbox issues in China and Singapore, anti-rollbar problems in Japan and Korea, and then a fuel pressure failure in Abu Dhabi. "I've been doing my best this year, but it's been a tough one because we've just had lots and lots of problems. We've not done a good enough job collectively to have won the championship," he added.
