After both Stuttgart and Dortmund suffered third-round exits on Tuesday, there was no such problem for fellow Bundesliga sides Bayern, Werder Bremen, Hoffenheim or Schalke 04 who all enjoyed easy wins.
After Bayern had laboured to a 2-1 win over Frankfurt in the Bundesliga last Saturday, they dominated the cup match from the start with German international striker Klose showing his world-class finishing with expert goals on 14 and 19 minutes.
They were his first of the season in all competitions, but the Germany hot-shot the top-scorer at the last World Cup looked sharp in front of goal and caused havoc in the Frankfurt defence.
Munich's Thomas Mueller then benefited from being set up by Klose when he put Bayern 3-0 up on 29 and then Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni who has been linked with a move away in Januaryu00a0also scored his first goal of the season for the German giants with a header on 52 minutes.
