Johannesburg: Spain and the Netherlands will lock horns on Sunday to decide who will lift the World Cup trophy, but Germany international Thomas Mueller is confident La Furia Roja have the edge.
The European Champions are currently favourites with the bookmakers to lift the trophy at Soccer City in Johannesburg, and after seeing his nation eliminated by Spain in the semi-finals, Mueller knows which side his money is on.
"For the potential they have, I believe Spain will be champions," Mueller told FIFA.com.
"They are a fantastic group, very well organised and very creative in attack, with world class footballers. It is true they have not been playing as well as many expected, but they have learned how to win.
"Of course I will be rooting for my club colleagues Mark van Bommel and Arjen Robben. But above all I expect a great match."
Mueller is regarded as one of the big hits of the tournament, after scoring past Australia, Argentina and a brace past England.
However, Mueller insists he would have preferred his nation to have progressed to the final rather than being lavished with praise.
"I would prefer Germany to win the World Cup over receiving credit for individual displays," he added.
"I believe all compliments I have received are consequence of my performances ."
