World No 2 Novak Djokovic took his 2011 record to 29-0 yesterday, equalling Ivan Lendl's mark set in 1986, when he defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-1, 6-2 in the Madrid Masters third round

The overall record for a winning start to a season is 42 matches, set by John McEnroe in 1984.

Meanwhile, Spain's Rafael Nadal was given a walkover into the quarter-finals when opponent Juan Martin Del Potro withdrew with a hip injury.u00a0 Swiss ace Roger Federer took nearly three hours to wear down Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (15/13), 6-7 (1/7), 7-6 (9/7), taking nearly three hours.

Wozniacki stunned
German Julia Goerges defeated World No 1 Caroline Wozniacki for the second time in little more than a week, sending the top seed out 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 in the third round of the ATP-WTA Madrid Masters yesterday.

Goerges, who beat the Dane in the Stuttgart final last week, next plays Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Sania-Vesnina lose
Indian Sania Mirza and Russian Elena Vesnina went down 7-5, 7-5 to Czech Kveta Peschke and Slovakian K Srebotnik in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Masters yesterday.

Meanwhile, Indo-Pak duo of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Qureshi defeated Spanish duo R Ramirezhi and S Ventura 6-3, 6-0 on Tuesday to move into the quarter-finals.
