Kerala's Daya Elsa Jacob qualified for her maiden women's singles main drawu00a0 defeating Egypt's Asmaa Badie Tawfeek 21-6, 21-16 during the Tata Open India International Challenge at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) courts yesterday.

Daya next faces defending champion and best friend PC Thulasi. "I have defeated Thulasi earlier. But this is an International challenge, so I just want to go out and give my best," said the 18-year-old, who won the U-16 state sub-junior title in 2006 at the expense of Thulasi.
