Tokyo: Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market - the world's largest - will stay where it is for at least a year, the city's governor said yesterday, in a move that could impact the 2020 Olympics. The delay - over concerns about toxic contamination at the new site - means that a planned underground tunnel leading to an athlete's village was now off the table because it could not be built in time. An above ground road would be constructed instead to ensure a "smooth" flow of traffic, governor Yuriko Koike said, as the megacity struggles to contain soaring costs linked to the Games.
