Medak (Telangana): India's Rio Olympics silver medal-winning shuttler PV Sindhu and national coach Pullela Gopichand laid the foundation stone for an idol at the Sri Sahakara Anjaneya Swamy Temple in here on Saturday.
The duo performed the bhumi puja and offered prayers ahead of the installation of a massive 110 feet Panchaloha idol within the temple premises. The player and coach's families too were invited for the ceremony and Sindhu's parents, PV Ramana and Vijaya, were welcomed by a large crowd gathered here.
The location of the temple in the middle of a forest was really special, said Sindhu, who recently won the Indian Open Superseries and attained a career-best World No. 2 ranking before slipping a slot down to No. 3 in the latest rankings.
