Kochi Customs fell short by a point and went down to Punjab 87-88 in a men's Group A league encounter of the 27th UPL ufffd Ramu Memorial basketball tournament, organized by the Indian Gymkhana here.
Punjab, who lost their opening match to Western Railway 65-71, thus kept their hopes alive in the four-team league with this win.
Jagdeep Singh Bains (29 points) played the anchor role for Punjab, and with support from Arjun Singh (10) and Talwinder Singh (33), kept the scoreboard moving with his sharp shooting.
It was second time unlucky for Kochi as they also lost by a point to defending champions Indian Overseas Bank 63-64 in a late match on Sunday.
