Sam Querrey posted a key singles win as the United States pulled level with Spain in their round-robin encounter at the World Team Championship in Dusseldorf.
Nicolas Almagro had earlier given Spain the edge in the Blue Group clash as he beat Robby Ginepri 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7/4), but Querrey ensured the tie was square at 1-1 heading into tonight's deciding doubles rubber as he defeated Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-3 6-4.
Elsewhere, in the Red Group, Jan Hajek hammered Peter Luczak 6-1, 6-2 as the Czech Republic established a 1-0 lead over Australia.
In the Blue Group, Germany opened up a 1-0 lead over Argentina courtesy of Philipp Kohlschreiber's 6-3 6-4 triumph over Horacio Zeballos, while France and Serbia are level at 1-1.
