Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF), Mumbai powered by Shiva Kumar's brace overcame hosts Bombay Gymkhana President's XI 4-1 in a first round match of the Aga Khan hockey tournament ufffd 2011, at the Bombay Gymkhana ground, yesterday.

The home team comprising former Indian stars Viren Rasquinha, Darryl D'Souza, Edgar Mascarenhas Sr, Devinder Kumar and goalkeeper Edgar Mascarenhas Jr, were unable to match their rivals, who were much younger and fitter.

However, the heroics of Bombay Gym goalkeeper Mascarenhas, was instrumental in restricting RCF to just four goals. He produced some timely saves to deny the rival attackers. For his fine efforts he was rewarded with the man-of-the-match prize.

RCF got the breakthrough in the 12th minute when Shivau00a0u00a0 beat Mascarenhas with an angular hit. He was on target again in the 30th minute, tapping home a Mahesh Bagade pass. Bombay Gym pulled one back in the 46th minute via Devinder Kumar's solid hit from the left. Suhas Patil knocked the fight out of Bombay Gym scoring the third goal in the 58th minute.
