Custodian Roshni Dadachanji kept a clean sheet throughout the tournament to help J B Petit bag their maiden Nike MSSA inter-school title in the girls under-14 category after they scored a 1-0 win over Mary Immaculate at Azad Maidan yesterday.

Roshni did well to guard the goal not only in yesterday's game by keeping all shots at bay, but has also managed to keep a clean record the entire season.

Initially, Roshni hated the position assigned to her by her coaches as she often felt left out of the game. But soon, she developed a liking to the responsibility of being a goalkeeper.

Roshni said: "My coaches changed my entire attitude towards goalkeeping and made me understand how important I was to the team. Now I feel important. I am happy I did what I was supposed to do and not let anything get past me. Our entire team has been playing together for the last couple of years, so we have a great understanding. I am proud of my team and myself."

The only goal-scorer of the match, Shaheen Dubash had to wait long for her first goal of the tournament which she felt couldn't have come at a better time.

J B Petit's assistant coach, Leroy D'Sa, who has been training the team for the past nine months,u00a0 said: "It is only hardwork that has got us this trophy. The girls are very enthusiastic about football and religiously come for practice."

D'Sa was all praise for the fine work of his team's custodian. "She (Roshni) was excellent and saved the day for us. But it was a complete team effort that got us the win."
