Rudra's ton in vain as KSA, Fort Vijay CC share spoils

Though seven batsmen registered half-centuries in the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League 'A' division yesterday, Karnataka Sporting Association's Rudra Dhanday was the only batsman who could convert his fifty into a ton. The right-handed opener did so against Fort Vijay CC at Cross Maidan. Batting first, Karnataka SA managed to score 158, thanks to Dhanday's unbeaten 100 (3x4, 2x6). The second top-scorer was No. 10 batsman Akshay Girap, who remained not out on 15. For Fort Vijay, medium pacer Farhan Kazi claimed five for 54 while off-spinner Harshad Rawale returned with figures of three for 45. In reply, Fort Vijay scored 135 for four in a drawn match.

New Hind SC in command
At the Major Dadkar Maidan in Matunga, Siddhant Adhatrao (57), Sagar Mishra (56) and Bhavin Thakkar (32) helped hosts New Hind Sporting Club declare at 239 for seven against Parsee Gymkhana. The visitors ended up with 74 for eight in 16 overs. Parsee Gymkhana opener Bravish Shetty slammed 37 off 21 balls. New Hind's Sagar Jadhav bowled an impressive spell of 4-2-6-4 while fellow pacer John Abraham took three for 45. Jadhav was delighted to claim the wicket of Ranji player Suryakumar Yadav, who he had dismissed in the Talim Shield final as well. "I remember how he got out in the Talim Shield final and planned accordingly. Here too, he was caught at short mid-wicket," said Jadhav.

DY Patil defeat Sind SC
At Parsee Gymkhana, DY Patil Sports Academy won on the first innings against Sind Sports Club with ex-Maharashtra opener Yogesh Takawale (50) and left-arm spinner Iqbal Abdulla (7-48) being the star performers. Vineet Sinha (35), Shashank Singh (33) helped the Navi Mumbai team score 224. For Sind SC, Nitesh Salekar and Javed Khan claimed five and three wickets respectively. In reply, Sind SC were bowled out for 101 with Yash Nahar (36) being the top scorer.
