Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twiiter to wish veteran tennis star Leander Paes.

The former India batsman wished Paes on his 43rd birthday on Friday and also prayed that the tennis ace had a great year ahead, which includes the forthcoming Rio Olympics scheduled to start on August 5.

Sachin expressed the hope that Paes keeps the Indian flag flying high at Rio by winning a medal.

"Happy Birthday @Leander. May you have a rocking year and Chalo Rio mein Tiranga Laherayein!" Tendulkar tweeted.

Paes has got the nod for his seventh Olympic appearance after the All India Tennis Association paired him with Rohan Bopanna for the men's doubles competition despite the latter's desire to team up with Saketh Myneni.

He will be gunning for a medal at the Olympics.

Paes recently completed a career slam after winning the French Open mixed doubles along with Swiss great Martina Hingis at Roland Garros.

Paes has bagged 18 Grand Slam titles in both men's and mixed doubles events till date.
